How do I book a session with you?

Simple!  Fill out the Contact form on the website or send an email to info@ashleyjophotography.com that says “I would like to book a session with you.” or “I have a question about [type of session].”

Do you have a studio?

I currently live in Belle Plaine and have a designated space in my home for client sessions. It’s perfect for newborn, milestones, and maternity sessions. It’s a relaxed, cozy, laid back environment. If a more formal studio setting is required for your type of session I will rent one by the hour for us to use. 

When is the best time to schedule my session?

Maternity-Best photographed between 28-37 weeks, when bump is prominent, but momma isn’t too swollen yet.

Newborns -Best photographed in the first 6-12 days after giving birth. This is when babies are their sleepiest and still curl up in womb-like poses. You should schedule while you are still pregnant. We put your due date on the calendar and set the exact session day/time once you’ve delivered.

Sitter session: 6-8 months. Baby is sitting unsupported on his/her own 

One year:  11-13 months near his/her one year birthday.

Family- Best photographed outside between the months of May-October. The fall gets very busy so book in advance.  Best to contact me 3-4 weeks prior to your desired date and in the fall 6-8 weeks in advance.

Seniors-Most seniors schedule their sessions between the months of June-October. Be sure you know when your yearbook deadline is for submitting senior photos and schedule your session well in advance to allow time for editing and ordering.   Best to contact me 3-4 weeks prior to your desired date and in the fall 6-8 weeks in advance.

Do you sell digital files?

Yes!  I offer edited, high resolution digital files that are purchased at an affordable price a la carte. This allows clients to select their absolute favorite images.  Also any Wall Art purchase includes the corresponding digital file of that image.

Why don’t you include digital images in the session fee? 

The 2 biggest reasons are:

1) In the past I included only digital images and heard over and over again months or even years went by and the client still hadn’t gotten around to printing their photos. I get that we are all busy and have good intentions of printing, but I believe that if you hire a professional photographer it is their job to guide you through to the final printed product. I also invest a lot of my time and money into each clients session before they even get in front of the camera. The session fee covers costs associated with sessions that clients often don’t see such as permits for shooting at certain parks, software, camera and lens maintence, studio props, etc.)

2) Technology changes so fast! The way digital data is stored is ever changing too. How many of us have CDs full of photos, but our newest computer doesn’t even have a place to insert a CD? Or maybe you have all your files stored on your computer, but what if that device crashes? The truth is high quality prints, canvas, and albums stay around forever. 

How much do people usually spend?

On average, most clients will spend a total of $450 to $1100 on digitalis, products or wall groupings.  I do offer easy payment plans if desired. Payments can be made in cash, check or credit card. Products are delivered once full payment has been received.

What do most people purchase?

Depending on the type of session, the most popular items are digital files and wall groupings (canvas, wood, metal or framed prints).  They will then use the rest of their favorite images to create an album or image box.
