This newborn session was so very special for a multitude of reasons. Baby Coral was one of the recipients of the August Rainbow Baby Project. Her mama is a fellow photographer friend. She lives in my hometown of Cologne, MN. A town I love so dearly.
One year ago we were eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first daughter, Juniper, and had planned for that newborn session, but sadly, Juniper was stillborn and I never got to meet her. Her mom so bravely shares much of her story on her Instagram page @orangeafmama. I strongly encourage you to check her out.
Almost one year later, just days before Juniper’s 1st birthday, they gave birth to Junie’s little sister. Coral. I knew when planning for Coral’s session that we needed to include Juniper, the color orange and clementines. I painted a custom orange rainbow canvas drop for Coral. Mom requested non-traditional rainbow images and it definitely pushed my creativity. The clementines and gold bow are a nod to Juniper because she was wrapped in clementine blanket and wore a gold bow after she was born. We wanted to have some sibling photos at the newborn session also. We also did some setups just for Coral that included some pinks and floral.
